KOTHI RESORT

 

There, where the gentle slopes merge into the steep hillside of the Pir Pinjal Range, you will find Kothi Forest Lodge (KFL), located on the Southern edge of the famous Rohtang Pass/La. Kothi has been a staging point for crossing the Pass and going on to Lahoul, Spiti and Ladakh from the Kullu valley since time immemorial.


As years went by, mule track, jeepable road and now a national highway have made their way through the prefecture.

Extensive mountain walks on well marked routes, excellent climbing for the experienced as well as easy walks for elders, offer healthy fresh air, graduated limbering up and soothing & pleasing environment for the body & mind.

 

Winter in Kothi/Solang an adjacent valley offers a variety of interests for everyone. Various degrees of difficulty on slopes and snow conditions ensure that every member of the family, fulfils his or her skiing desire, adventure and fun.

 

Famous national ski championships take place on the slopes  of Kothi/Solang. The people of Kothi and Solang villages put their heart and soul into the preparations for these events, which attract thousands every year.

 

Walkers as well as cross country skiers have opportunity to observe and absorb the magnificent winter landscape, the meandering, snow-lined streams, and the frost covered petals of the hemlock. The prefecture is interwoven and surrounded by snow clad peaks, streams, lakes and green meadows and dark majestic pine forests.

Those who have part taken in the spectacle of this  beautiful countryside environment with  it's ever changing mosaic of rivers and streams, steep jagged peaks and wide valleys, have waded through glistening snow on cold, sunny winter days and then possibly called in at one of the cozy warm chalets or the Kothi Forest Lodge, or have seen  the most unusual carpet of wild flowers on the meadows in summer will appreciate why the prefecture is the ideal destination for the fun and adventure holidays in the Western Himalayas.

HOC located amidst the grandeur of the Kothi Lodge (KFL) offers the youth courses in wide range of mountain, snow and outdoor activities.

KFL  run by the Himalayan Outdoor Center is recognized by the Department of Tourism as a quality tourist & adventure sports destination.


HOC has  conducted adventure outings and mountaineering modules for YPS, National Adventure Club Chandigarh, Bishop Cotton School Shimla,  Tata and National Adventure Foundation, Indian Mountaineering Foundation, West Bengal China Everest Expedition, Indo-Nepal Women Everest Expedition, Winter Games Federation of India, NCC Singapore, Royal Holloway College UK, E & A Mumbai and for the Department of Tourism. The successful Malaysian Everest Team was trained by HOC.
